I was never the model student in school. I made terrible grades, was extremely unmotivated, and only excelled in watching cartoons. Upon (somehow) graduating from high school, I made the decision to go to a college without doing much research on loans, debt, or even the school itself. After being thrust into more than 6 figures worth of debt from attending college for only one year, I was prompted to quit school and focus on working to survive. All hope for me being successful seemed lost at this point. I was barely 20 years old. As the years went by, I grew more dissatisfied with my situation. How could this happen to me? I wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, yet I tried so hard to do the right things in order to be successful. I was, however, always a hard worker. My mentor Dr. Robin Sargent saw that in me. After about 6 years of working labor intensive jobs, Dr. Sargent contacted me with a plan to turn me into a badass instructional designer. I took the big risk to relocate from one state to another, and I haven’t looked back. Through her guidance and my hard work, I can proudly say that I went from tossing bags as a valet to making 6 figures working for a multibillion dollar company, and only a year off from purchasing my first house. I owe everything to this career path, and my mentor Dr. Robin Sargent.
